Building Confidence Around Money, One Graduate at a Time

We're a small team in Petaling Jaya with one purpose: helping young Malaysians feel less lost when it comes to everyday money decisions.

Where Pursely Came From

Pursely started in 2021 when three friends — all recently graduated from public universities in the Klang Valley — realised they had spent years studying hard subjects but nobody had ever shown them how to read a payslip, set aside money for EPF top-ups, or figure out whether their first rental contract was reasonable.

After asking around, they found that most of their peers were in the same position. There was plenty of information about investing and market speculation online, but very little about the basics: how to set up a simple monthly budget, what EPF and SOCSO deductions actually mean, and how to build a small savings buffer on an entry-level salary.

That gap is what Pursely was built to fill. We create general-education content — short courses, practical toolkits, and small-group programmes — that talk about money the way a knowledgeable friend would. No complicated jargon, no upselling, no promises of outcomes we can't control. Just clear, honest information that helps people feel more steady on their financial feet.

Today, Pursely operates from our office in Petaling Jaya and serves participants from across peninsular Malaysia through online and hybrid formats. We keep our programmes small enough that participants can ask questions and get thoughtful responses, not just slide decks.

Our Mission

Make everyday money knowledge accessible to every young Malaysian, regardless of their academic background.

Our Vision

A Malaysia where young adults entering the workforce feel confident managing their own money from day one.

Our Approach

Plain language, real examples, small groups. Education — not advice. Honest about what we are and what we're not.

Our Standards and Commitments

Education — Not Advice

Everything Pursely produces is general information for educational purposes. We don't offer personalised financial advice, investment recommendations, or any regulated services. We're clear about this with every participant.

Data Privacy

Participant information is stored securely and used only for programme delivery and communication. We don't sell or share personal data. Our practices align with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

Small Group Sizes

We keep the Foundations Programme to small cohorts so that each participant can ask questions and have them addressed meaningfully — not lost in a crowd.

Regular Content Reviews

Our materials are reviewed at least twice a year to reflect changes in local costs of living, EPF contribution rates, and relevant policy updates. We note the review date on all materials.

Participant Feedback

Every cohort completes a feedback survey at the end. We read every response and use them to adjust content and delivery for the next group. The programme has improved measurably because of this.

Certificate of Attendance

Participants who complete the Foundations Programme receive a certificate of attendance. It documents the topics covered and the hours invested — a meaningful addition to a professional profile.

Why General Money Education Matters for Young Malaysians

Malaysia has a growing population of graduates and young professionals who start their careers with solid technical skills but limited exposure to everyday money management. Questions about how payslip deductions work, what a monthly budget actually looks like, or how to interpret a tenancy agreement are surprisingly common — and the answers aren't always easy to find in plain language.

At Pursely, we focus specifically on this gap. Our programmes are not about becoming an investor or a wealth manager. They're about building a foundation: understanding where your money goes each month, setting aside something for unexpected costs, and knowing which financial documents you're likely to encounter as a young adult in Malaysia.

We're based in Petaling Jaya and serve participants across the Klang Valley and beyond through online access. Our materials use ringgit-based examples, reference local institutions like EPF and KWSP, and are written with a Malaysian audience in mind from the first sentence.

If you're looking for a structured, judgement-free space to build your understanding of everyday money matters, Pursely was put together with you in mind.
